Who we are

Past chairs

Hugh Fraser was our founding chairperson from 2001 until he died on 9 May 2005. His obituary in the New Zealand Herald is here

Pamela Skelton chaired the trust from 2005 until July 2007, when she resigned for health reasons. She has worked as an RMS volunteer with an extended family of Karen refugees from Burma in Beach Haven since they arrived here in 2001. She was a driving force behind the trust's recent fundraising activities.

Legal structure

The Friends of Refugees Trust (AK/1179611) was incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 on 7 December 2001. It is an approved Donee Organisation under the Income Tax Act 1994.
